Employers log in to E-Verify at everify.uscis.gov/emp, signing in through Login.gov with the email address tied to their E-Verify user account. Login.gov adds multi-factor authentication, and every E-Verify user has to go through it (E-Verify User Manual, Section 6.2).

New users get their login from the company's E-Verify program administrator, who adds them and triggers an email with an activation link. Third-party E-Verify employer agents sign in at a different address, and employees checking their own records use myE-Verify, which is a separate account entirely.

Where to Log In to E-Verify

E-Verify has different sign-in pages depending on who you are. Most HR users want the first row (E-Verify User Manual, Section 8.0).

Who you are Where to sign in
Employer users and corporate administrators everify.uscis.gov/emp
E-Verify employer agents (third parties running cases for clients) everify.uscis.gov/esp
A company that hasn't enrolled yet everify.uscis.gov/enroll (enrollment, not login)
Employees checking their own information myE-Verify

Logging In to E-Verify for the First Time

Start with the activation email your program administrator's request triggered, then follow E-Verify's steps:

  1. Go to everify.uscis.gov and click I Agree on the user agreement.
  2. Sign in to Login.gov with the email address on your E-Verify account. No Login.gov account yet? Choose Create an Account and use that same email.
  3. Check the details on the Your Account screen and click Continue to E-Verify.
  4. On the dashboard, select your user ID and finish the online training.

You can't create or manage cases until the training is done (E-Verify User Manual, Section 6.1). After that first visit, every login goes through Login.gov and lands you on the same dashboard, where you pick the user ID you want to work under.

Who Gives You an E-Verify Login

Of E-Verify's two user roles, program administrators register new users, create accounts, reactivate accounts, close accounts, and manage the company profile, and they can also run cases. General users create and manage cases and view reports. Every company needs at least one program administrator and can add as many of either role as it wants (Section 6.1).

Only a program administrator can add a user, using the person's email address and role. E-Verify then emails the new user an activation link (Section 7.1). Each person who creates cases needs their own user ID, so a shared HR login isn't allowed (E-Verify glossary).

Add E-Verify to your offboarding checklist, because when a user leaves the company or no longer needs E-Verify, a program administrator has to delete that account. We recommend keeping at least two program administrators, so one person's resignation doesn't leave the company unable to add users or fix an account.

Skip the separate E-Verify login

With i9 Intelligence, E-Verify cases are created from completed I-9s inside the platform, so your HR team works from one login. See how our E-Verify integration handles case creation, results, and mismatches, or book a demo.

Can't Log In to E-Verify?

Most login problems come down to a handful of causes.

  • The email doesn't match. Login.gov has to use the same email address that's on your E-Verify user account. Before you can switch your E-Verify profile to a different email, that address has to be added to your Login.gov account first (Section 6.3).
  • Your account was deactivated or deleted. Ask your program administrator, who can reactivate an account or add you again.
  • E-Verify is asking for a tutorial. The MOU requires users to complete refresher tutorials when E-Verify prompts them, and you can't keep using E-Verify until you finish (E-Verify MOU for Employers). Companies that switch their profile to federal contractor with the FAR E-Verify clause also have every user take a contractor tutorial and pass a mastery test before they get back in (E-Verify.gov).
  • You're at the wrong sign-in page. Employer users belong at /emp. Employer agents use /esp.

For password resets and other technical problems, call the E-Verify Contact Center at 888-464-4218. It's open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern, except when the federal government is closed (Section 8.0).

Finding Your E-Verify Company ID

Program administrators find the company ID number at the top of the Company Information page, under Company Profile in the company account (Section 7.3). It identifies your company's E-Verify account, and you'll want it handy whenever you call the Contact Center or work with an I-9 software vendor.

Logging In Through I-9 Software

Companies that run E-Verify through I-9 software usually don't need anyone logging in to E-Verify for day-to-day work. The software creates the case from the completed Form I-9 and brings the result back into the employee's record. For how E-Verify fits with Form I-9 overall, see what is E-Verify, and for handling a mismatch result, see how to handle an E-Verify TNC.
